Dear teacher

Welcome to the Helsinki City Art Museum!

This page contains important information to groups visiting our Museum. For information on exhibitions and related programme, go to the Exhibitions page. For more details, please call our Educational Curator: Kaisa Kettunen +358-(0)9-3108 7054.

Teacher briefings:

Briefings are organized for teachers a few times each year to provide information on upcoming exhibitions and related programme. You will be sent a personal invitation at your school. If you do not yet receive personal mail from us, you may register for our mailing list by sending an email message to kaisa.kettunen@hel.fi. Include your name, the name of your school and whether it is a lower or upper stage comprehensive or an upper secondary school.

Guided tours:

  • we recommend guided tours to groups because that way you will get more out of the exhibition
  • tours cost EUR 20 for groups of school students on Tue-Fri at 11-15 o´clock (other times regular fee EUR 60 and on sundays EUR 75)
  • book your tour well in advance; same-day bookings are not recommended!
  • to book a tour call Susanna Lovelock, tel. +358-(0)9-3108 7003. She will want to know the date and time (and alternative dates and times), size of the group and the students’ age, your and the school’s name and the school’s telephone or fax and email
  • the maximum size of groups is 30 students
  • we recommend that groups of small children are accompanied by at least two adults
  • let tour booking know if you have any wishes concerning your tour
  • call tour booking if you have a question!
  • our guides are experts in art so take advantage of their knowledge and encourage your students in advance to make questions

  • Before your visit:

  • it is a good idea to plan ahead what you want from your visit
  • prepare the visit with your students and provide them with background information
  • explain to especially younger students how to behave in a museum: to move around calmly and not touch any of the works of art
  • after you visit, discuss the exhibition and its themes with your students
