At the tip of Kaivopuisto, at the cliff by the waterfront, a geological deposit is to be found. The deposit is folded gneiss, formed two billion years ago, and penetrated by a granite vein. Nearby, a plaque gives an explanation of the deposit in Finnish and Swedish.
Such deposits are common to the bedrock in southern Finland.
