"The Actress" was inspired by Ida Aalberg (1857- 1915), the first famous actress to perform in the Finnish language.

The bronze sculpture is placed on a rocky hill from where it controls the space opening in front of it. The stylized female figure has been shaped in an Expressionistic manner, and the simple features of her face counteract the massive body, creating a feeling of release from form.

The work is cast in bronze. It is 1.9 metres high and placed on a 0.4-metre natural-stone pedestal.

Armas Hutri is the sculptor of several notable memorials. He received the honorary title of Professor in 1976.
