The work is based on the dynamic relationship between two shapes; two heavy and massive pieces which seem to caress each other without an actual physical touch. As the viewer moves closer to the work, coarse grooves and marks of casting appear on its smooth and even surface. The form speaks of freedom from the restrictions of the material, expressing movement by swaying like gigantic seaweed. The significance of the void between the two objects becomes at least as critical as that of the two masses. Markku Kitula received first price in the 1979 competition for sculptures to be placed in the new wing of the Parliament building. The bronze work was unveiled in 1981.
