Kimmo Kaivanto's work reflects a will to express the impressions inspired by nature in simple and disciplined forms. 'Biogenesis', located within the Cultor building and in front of it, is based on the multiplication of the form of a flickering flame. The title refers to the history and future of the company Cultor, the former Finnish Sugar Co. Ltd. It also refers to the importance of sugar in assimilation and the birth of organic nature. The company's main line of business is no longer sugar, however, but biotechnology. The message of Kaivanto's work is that modern technology and organic nature are not incompatible.

'Biogenesis' was unveiled in 1988 in Länsi-Pasila (the picture) and it is made of bronze and painted steel. It was removed to Espoo with the company 1999 and it got a new colour.
