The memorial is a bronze relief commemorating the 100th anniversary of the completion of Finland’s first railway in 1862. The text “Helsinki—Hämeenlinna 1862–1962” beside the relief refers to the terminuses of that railway and to the maiden journey made by the ‘Lemminkäinen’ train on January 31, 1862. The memorial can be found by the main entrance to the Railway Station.
