sculpture Tytöt / Girls
map Cervis Centre, Kivikonkaari, Kivikko
year 2002
images 1, 2
The stylised figures outside the service centre in Kivikko depict three girls dressed in jeans, one standing, one sitting and the third reclining. The fibreglass figures are arranged in a relaxed situation and painted a pastel red, yellow and blue. In keeping with the function of the house, the artist has presented the figures as social beings who take their place by communicating with the surrounding space and people. On the other hand, the soft, plastic forms of the large figures and the random nature of their situation also create an opposite force to the angular and disciplined lines of the surrounding architecture. The work was paid for from the building budget.
