Kaija Kontulainen's Horses was unveiled on 16 June 2003 outside the primary school in the new residential district of Arabianranta. The sculpture consists of two roughly life-sized simplified horse figures. Cast in bronze, the figures reach a height of about 2 m. The artist has intentionally designed the work to withstand friendly touching and petting by children.
The school building was designed by Kai Wartiainen Architects/Mona Schalin. The sculpture was completed at the same time as the school and funded from the building budget.
