Donated works from the sculptor Professor Eero Hiironen have long complemented the sculpture park of the Didrichsen Art Museum. At the beginning of October 2006, a new work named Water Gate was acquired (dated from 2005), which furthered the cooperation between Hiironen and the Didrichsen Art Museum.
The Didrichsen Art Museum had often previously shown works by Hiironen and had organised a solo exhibition of the artist’s work in the year 1999. Before this donation, the Didrichsen Art Museum’s collection included eight of Eero Hiironen’s works, some of which are on permanent display in the museums open-air and indoor-exhibition spaces.
Water gate is made from acid-free steel.
The museum and it's statue park are closed until September 2014.
