Kimmo Kaivanto's Silvery Bridges, unveiled in 1985, is the tall sculpture in the central square inside the Forum shopping centre. Ascending from the bottom floor, it almost reaches the glass ceiling high above. The work consists of bridges - three pairs of steel arches - suspended between high pillars, and of a pool. The pillars are a mixture of blue pigment, white cement and quartz. From their vivid blue surfaces emerge small sculptural motifs; The Blue Thinker from Kaivanto’s Rodin series, shells, a painter’s brush, a piece of metal resembling a cartridge, and a horn, among other objects. Large quadrangles with wave-like patterns and smaller smooth ones lend structure to the pillars. The inner surfaces of the pillars mirror the bustle of the shopping centre in an infinite series of reflections
