”Sitting girl” shows a sitting girl with her legs slanting to the side, and whose both hands are raised with open palms turned slightly towards herself between shoulder and breast height. The massive proportions of the girl’s hips and shoulders present a distinct contrast to her slender waist and narrow pelvis. Her legs rest over the outer side of the pedestal and her pelvis elegantly turns her whole figure even though her back remains perfectly straight. This impression of her rolling figure is particularly interesting when observed from behind the girl’s back.
The sculpture is located in Munkkiniemi manor park just next to the manor house. The work was completed in 1971 and is made from bronze.
