Kaija Pekkarinen’s Hen is made of an old log and is 2.5 metres high. The City Art Museum acquired it from an exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts in 1997. In the exhibition, Hen was placed on the Fredrikintori Square in Helsinki. Hen was also shown at the Saarijärvi Museum in 1999. The artist says that she set out to make a warm, cheerful piece that people would want to touch.
The piece broke and has been removed.
