ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS FINAL EXHIBITION
9.5. - 3.6.2007

The Academy of Fine Arts is a fine arts university. It provides the highest-level training in art in Finland and also engages in art research and artistic activity.

This exhibition presents works by students who are about to graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to the lower floor of Art Museum Tennis Palace, works by the students can be seen at the Academy’s galleries in Kasarminkatu and Lönnrotinkatu.

The final exhibition at Art Museum Tennis Palace includes works from 36 students, 14 of whom studied at the Department of Painting, 8 at the Department of Time and Space, 8 at the Department of Sculpture and 6 at the Department of Printmaking. The exhibition was designed by the departments in collaboration.

The final exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts has a well-established tradition. It began as a small studio exhibition and eventually moved out of the Academy to the most central venues of the city. In addition, more and more students want to place their works in public urban space itself. For example, one of the works in this year’s exhibition will be taken regularly from the Academy to the area around the Tennis Palace to get immediate feedback and to form contacts with people.
